Communication

Home School Diary

At John Ray Junior School every child has a home school diary which hopes to provide a direct exchange of information and dialogue between home and school.  We aim to ensure that parents and carers are fully informed about their child's daily activities and wellbeing as well as providing our children with a voice to enable them to communicate their daily activities at home or school. This diary is also used for staff, parents and carers to add comments  when reading with children. We believe that all children will learn better if home and school work together in partnership.  To achieve this aim we ask parents and carers to support and sign our Home School Agreement.

The preferred method of sending out letters and information on a daily or weekly basis is via Parentmail.  We ask you to sign up to receive emails rather than printing letters to be despatched with our children.  The necessary link can be created for you provided your email address has been made available to the school office.

Learning Conferences

We have three learning conferences each year, which are held  termly.  These conferences are an opportunity to talk about your child, including how they have settled into class and to discuss their learning.  Teachers share ways in which your child is learning and making progress through samples of work, a pupil profile and discussion.

Annual Reports

Annual reports are prepared at the end of the summer term to give an overview of how each child has progressed during the academic year.
